Rodriguez is the oversight chair of the severely cash-strapped government of Guam agency.
The lawmaker has written to Guam Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo and Rufus Arther, certification and enforcement branch manager of Medicare services, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Rodriguez is asking Bordallo to intervene in “securing a reasonable period of time for GMH to come into full COP compliance.”
The senator said not knowing the response GMHA gave to Arther, he felt that a reasonable timeframe would be, “at the very minimum, 90 days.
Some of these issues are going to require some time for the hospital to be in full compliance.”
Rodriguez said two months ago, GMHA had $4 million left from the $12 million loan. He was not aware of whether the hospital used any of the money to address the problems cited in the 78-page report. The report cited pending issues that the hospital has repeatedly failed to address.
