According to the Guam Visitors Bureau, the JATA annual travel fair attracts thousands of travel agents, media representatives and potential visitors.
“Japan is Guam’s largest tourism market and it is important to continue efforts to promote Guam as a safe and satisfying destination,” said GVB General Manager Joann Camacho in a press release. “The Guam delegation is in Tokyo to share our culture and educate travel agents and potential visitors on the unique qualities our island has to offer them.”
The delegation, which included ambassadors and beauty queens Anna Calvo, Miss Earth Guam 2011, and Shayna Jo Afaisen, Miss Universe Guam 2011, left Wednesday, Sept. 28 to join Calvo and participated in a two-day forum at the Tokyo Big Sight Expo Center.
The forum focused on the recovery of tourism after the Japan March 11 triple disasters. Despite the decrease in outbound travel for the immediate months following the disasters, GVB says, the recovery of Japan’s outbound market has been achieved.
