Syed didn’t identify their lawyers but said they will meet with other advocates to discuss their plans.
He said they will still hold a rally outside the Department of Labor to protest the law which asserts CNMI government control over alien workers.
“We are also members of the community and we just want a solution to this problem that is affecting guest workers and employers,” he added.
P.L. 17-1 is adversarial to guest workers, he said.
According to Syed, they will also ask federal authorities to include guest workers who have been working in the CNMI for at least five years in any plan to grant long-term status to aliens.
Syed said long-term guest workers deserve improved immigration status.
