This Sunday, the United Workers Movement, the Pilipino Contract Workers Association, Dekada and other groups will collect comments from guest workers.
Rabby Syed, UWM president said, they will set up a support center at the Fiestang Pinoy By: Juvy Restaurant across from Saipan Grand Hotel on Beach Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 8.
Jun Concillado, Pilcowa president, said the transitional worker program “needs more modifications.”
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is asking the public to comment on the regulations.
“Our unified comments will make some differences for our future in the CNMI,” Concillado said.
Boni Sagana, Dekada president, said if the intention of the federalization law is to “zero out the guest workers,” then the “remedy is to give them improved status.”
He said improved status for guest workers is good for the CNMI economy.
