He is still hoping that Hofschneider will win the elections.
Saipan Southern High School student Chris Reyes said at least 1,000 absentee ballots can make the difference today.
“There is still hope for my candidates,” he said, referring to the Heinz & Arnold team.
Five of his friends interviewed by this reporter agreed that the runoff is not over until the absentee ballots are counted today.
They were not disappointed that Fitial appears to have an insurmountable lead because “it’s not over yet.”
Annie Camacho, another NMC student, said she asked her relatives residing in the states to vote for the Heinz-Arnold tandem.
She said she will be very disappointed if Fitial wins.
“He already had his term and he did not do good so I hope this time fate and the people will favor Heinz,” she added.
Meanwhile, another group of NMC students who supported Fitial said Hofschneider’s camp is “hoping against hope.”
“[Hofschneider] will only win if he gets 80 percent of 1,000 absentee votes, which I doubt will happen,” one of them said.
He believes the absentee ballots will not make any big impact on the final tally.
“Let’s just hope that the two will work together after the election, whoever wins,” Palacios said.
