THE Hotel Association of Northern Mariana Islands has expressed concern over the administration’s “apparent non-inclusion of HANMI” in tourism-related task forces and government bodies.
In a letter to Gov. Juan N. Babauta, HANMI Chairman Ronald D. Sablan asked for “consideration” of its members in any major effort relating to tourism.
“Needless to say, it would be a pity if the group that has brought the biggest real investment into the islands will continue to be relegated to observer status rather than major player in efforts to chart our tourism future,” Sablan said.
Sablan did not cite any particular task force or government body.
The administration recently formed the Governor’s Strategic Tourism Development Council which is tasked to coordinate all tourism-programs in the CNMI.
