TRIPLE J Saipan Inc. human resource specialist Jorianne Cabrera shares how resilience and commitment to the company earned her success and an opportunity to help others grow and succeed.
She began as a Customer Service Representative at Triple J’s subsidiary, Hertz, in November 2019. It was her first job after high school, when she was simply looking for a job and was fortunate enough to pass the interview and get hired.
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the CNMI two months later, Cabrera was unfortunately one of the hundreds of local workers who were initially laid off. But the quality of her work at Hertz must have stood out because Triple J hired her again that same year to rejoin the Hertz team.
By that time, Cabrera was already enrolled in the associate degree program in Criminal Justice at the Northern Marianas College. The idea of going back to work while also studying—during no less than a global pandemic—was daunting, but Cabrera was able to pull off this balancing task.
Earning that Criminal Justice degree at NMC is something that Cabrera is most proud of because “it wasn’t just about getting a diploma. It was about perseverance, discipline, and proving to myself that I could push through challenges.”
Cabrera, 23, said her journey at NMC taught her resilience, critical thinking and a deeper understanding of justice and society.
To her, walking across that stage to graduate wasn’t just a moment of celebration; it was a reminder of how far she had achieved and how strong the foundation she had built for her future.
That shining moment allowed her to take a higher step in the corporate ladder. In September 2023, Cabrera joined Triple J’s Corporate Office as an Administrative Assistant.
Today, as Triple J’s HR Specialist, Cabrera, whose resilience helped her grow to become an HR professional and “a people person,” uses those past experiences to build strong relationships and foster open communication with people.
With her interpersonal skills, she helps make the company’s recruitment and onboarding process smoother, allowing new hires to feel welcomed.
That’s one of things she like most about working with Triple J—-a corporate environment where women’s contributions are valued, and offers a lot of opportunities for growth and development. The leadership, she said, recognizes hard work and potential, which has allowed her to advance in her career.
“I also enjoy the positive work environment, supportive colleagues, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the organization. The company values its employees, and that motivates me to do my best every day,” she said.
Looking back, Cabrera realizes the strength she has as a woman and looks forward to finishing a bachelor’s degree while deftly balancing her work and family time.
And how does she intend to do that? By doing what has become second-nature to her: being organized and setting clear boundaries.
“I prioritize tasks at work to ensure I stay on top of deadlines and responsibilities, and I make sure to set aside time in my schedule for my family. When I’m at work, I focus fully on my tasks, and when I’m with my family, I try to be present and disconnect from work. Communication is key, so I make sure both my work and my family understand my availability and commitments. This balance helps me stay productive while also enjoying quality time with my loved ones,” she said.
And while she appreciates Triple J for providing her the opportunity to become an empowered woman, she also looks up to her sister, +Arianne Cabrera.
“She is my definition of strong and independent. She inspires me with strength, determination, and kindness. She knows how to handle challenges with poise, and she always puts others first while balancing her own goals. Her hard work and ability to stay positive, even in difficult times, motivate me to keep pushing forward and be the best version of myself,” Cabrera said.
