The purpose of the launch at the Aqua Resort Club was to bring recognition and awareness about the book which will be used by public schools.
The book was available for purchase at the special price of $20 per book. Its regular price is $29.
“This is only volume one of the ‘History of the Mariana Islands to Partition,’ ” Farrell said.
Proceeds from sales of the book will fund the second volume, he added.
School principals and CNMI officials were present during yesterday’s launch.
Commissioner of Education Rita Sablan commended the guests. “Your presence here shows your commitment to education and I could not thank you all enough for the support,” she added.
According to Lt. Gov. Eloy Inos, “This, for me, is a must read book. The next time we welcome visitors from off the island, I’ll be more prepared to talk about NMI history.”
The book will be in circulation for all middle school level students. PSS has published 5,200 copies of the textbook to date.
