Hopwood students bring holiday cheers to tourists

Hopwood principal Jonas Barcinas said they collaborated with Gordon Marciano of Pacific Development Inc., the program coordinator, and the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The student groups comprise the Youth Advisory Panel, the Student Council, My Wave Club and Crimestoppers Club.

The school administrators, advisors and even parents also joined the students.

The group shared the spirit of Christmas with all tourists at the various hotels on island, Barcinas said.

“The intention of the program is for our youth at our school or local community to go out and showcase who we are as people of the CNMI,” he said.

The program is also part of the My Wave — or the Marianas Youth Welcome All Visitors Enthusiastically — Club and the Marianas Visitors Authority’s mission to share holiday joy with tourists.

Among the hotels they visited were Mariana Resort & Spa, Aqua Resort Club, Hyatt Regency, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Hafa Adai Hotel, Saipan World Resort and Saipan Grand Hotel.

“It was a great success and we would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the hotel association of Saipan, PDI, Mr. Marciano and the other partners of this program for making it happen,” Barcianas said.

He said students enjoyed their performances that “touched the visitors.”

“This is one way to maintain our uniqueness as a destination by having the students actively participate in this event during the holidays,” he added.
