House asked to help pay hotel for last year’s baseball tournament

Members, coaches and managers of the Little League teams from  Guam, the Philippines, Indonesia and Hong Kong were billeted at the Saipan Grand Hotel and consumed a total of $40,047.95 in food and room charges.

Tan Holdings Foundation paid $10,000 of the bill but the local organizing committee was only able to pay $1,500 last February.

Tan Holdings Corp. owns the hotel.

Each baseball team in the senior, junior and big divisions was billed an average of $3,960 for room charges and $1,260 for breakfast.

Tebuteb, R-Saiapn, told the Little League organizers that the Saipan legislative delegation supports baseball, but lawmakers also want to see a financial report regarding the 2008 Asia-Pacific Regional Baseball Tournament.
