Brundidge, in an interview yesterday, said he is running as an independent candidate in Precinct 5 because he knows the people deserve better than what they are currently getting from the government.
He said government officials and employees need to be reminded who they work for.
“If you ask government employees who they work for, nine out of 10 would say they work for the government, but if you ask them who the government works for, it would take time for them to answer.”
Brundidge said he will focus on helping the people instead of taking sides in divisive issues.
Brundidge, who once volunteered to trim trees and cut bushes in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, said he has already met with the residents of Precinct 5 which covers Kagman, half of Papago, San Vicente, Kannat Tabla and about a third of Santa Lourdes.
“I feel what they feel,” Brundidge said.
If elected, he said youth programs will be his priority.
The villages in Precinct 5, he said, need computers and improved playgrounds.
Brundidge said he will also come up with job-generating laws, projects and programs while helping beautify the island.
Moreover, he added, he will make sure he “stays in touch with the people.”
