House resolution honors Taman

House Resolution 16-101  commends Taman for his “exceptional achievements in the promotion and preservation of the Marianas and Micronesian languages and cultural heritage through his composition and production of songs and for bringing regional distinction and honor to the people of CNMI.”

Taman and other  musicians from Guam and Saipan will be recognized by the United Recording Artists Association during a special concert on Oct. 25 at the Yigo Memorial Park on Guam.

With the theme, “Honoring Our Chamorro Recording Pioneers” the concert aims to acknowledge “present and future local recording artists.”

The resolution stated that Taman’s legacy in the promotion and preservation of language and culture “greatly inspired many young Chamolinian and Micronesian musicians, educators and their bilingual programs and advocacy groups.”

Taman, the resolution added, “participated in many training programs to better educate and equip himself for his profession.”

He was also panelist in the third Annual Native Hawaiian Conference held in Honolulu.
