Introduced by Rep. Ray N. Yumul, R-Saipan, House Concurrent Resolution 16-4 identified $162.82 million in budgetary resources for FY 2010 and set aside $1.6 million for the Retirement Fund as mandated by a law that was not implemented for years.
The $1.6 million will come from the 30 percent hotel occupancy tax and the 20 percent alcoholic beverage container tax.
Rep. Tina Sablan, Ind.-Saipan inserted a clause in the resolution, urging the governor to submit a report as soon as possible regarding any amendments or changes to the budget, including actual revenues and expenditures to date for FY 2009, any policy changes proposed since April 1, and other significant factors affecting the FY 2010 budget.
According to the resolution, the total amount for government activities is $148.81 million.
The resolution also earmarks $7.6 million for bond payments; $1.3 million in cigarette excise tax for the tobacco control fund; $1.5 million in excise tax for solid waste management; and $1.7 million to comply with Public Law 16-7 or Emergency Power Generation Act, which allots Marianas Public Land Trust revenues to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.
