Hyatt marketing communications assistant manager Luis Villagomez said in celebration of this year’s theme, which was “Hyatt Thrives,” the three-day event included employee recognition and community involvement launched locally to “foster vibrant, healthy communities.”
Villagomez said among the activities that promoted fun, teamwork and excitement were an island-style breakfast in which the members of the executive committee served breakfast to employees; arts and crafts; dodge ball; an obstacle course race; tangan-tangan baseball; and other activities that encourage camaraderie among team members.
He said on the last day of the event, the employees enjoyed a potluck barbeque by the beach where they spent special time with friends and families.
Hyatt honored several awardees on the second day of the event, including Anthea Baltazar who was named Leader of the Year for her dedication in leading the Regency Club Lounge team. Baltazar received a plaque of recognition.
Violetta Lopez, Kili Café and Terrace’s team leader, was named Trainer of the Year and also received a plaque.
Dionesio “Diony” Peralta, a wait staff member of the food and beverage division, was named The Hystar of the Year-Guest Services, while sales coordinator Mariko Kido of the sales and marketing division was named Hystar of the Year-Operations Support Category. Each received a plaque and $1,500 cash.
“Hystar” points are earned through guest recognitions, colleague appreciation and other participations that signify authentic hospitality.
These points are accumulated within an award year. The Hystars of the Year were selected through a voting process among the hotel’s executive committee members.
Villagomez said this year, HyatT also launched a program that allows its employees to come together and make a difference in the lives they touch.
Last June 15, Hyatt employees cleaned up the Micro Beach area. “We believe that taking care and nurturing our natural environment play a key role in promoting tourism and hospitality in the Marianas,” Hyatt general manager Nick Nishikawa said.
