Increased scholarship funding available for NMC’s summer semester

The deadline for submitting application forms for the summer session has been extended to May 17. The scholarship awards up to $1,200 per semester to high school juniors, seniors, and first-year college students with low-income backgrounds.

The college is offering a variety of courses during its summer session in several disciplines, including criminal justice, business, language arts, computer technology, nursing, and social sciences. A copy of the class schedule can be accessed through the NMC website.

The purpose of the scholarship is to assist recipients with the costs associated with college enrollment. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must:

• Be a high school junior, senior, or a first-year college student (having no more than 30 credits).

• Be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., which includes citizens of the Freely Associated States: Palau, the Marshalls or the FSM — Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap.

• Demonstrate eligibility for the federal PELL grant.

• Be admitted to and enrolled as a student at NMC, or another U.S. accredited post-secondary institution.

Application forms can be downloaded from the NMC website at www.nmcnet.edu. Completed applications must be submitted with supporting documentation no later than 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, to the Financial Aid Office in Building N or postmarked on or before the due date to ensure eligibility and priority to receive an award. Faxed applications will not be accepted.

The CACP Scholarship is made possible through financial support from the College Access Challenge Grant Program under the U.S. Department of Education.
