In an interview yesterday, Deleon Guerrero said although he cannot control their supporters, he will appreciate it if they will not show up for the GOP’s open primary on June 27.
The two teams seeking the party’s nomination are Rep. Heinz S. Hofschneider and his running mate, Speaker Arnold I. Palacios, and Former Gov. Juan N. Babauta, who is running with Board of Education member Galvin S. Deleon Guerrero.
A former Commonwealth Utilities Corp. executive director and senator, Ramon S. Deleon Guerrero said he and his running mate do not want to be blamed for the lost of whichever team will not make it in the primary.
He said he and his running mate will begin campaigning after the primary.
He believes that the losing team will not support the winning ticket and will launch an independent candidacy, which will ensure the defeat of the GOP in November.
Both GOP teams have promised to support the winner.
Since the first Republican primary in 1997, there has been no losing team that still ran in the general election.
The other gubernatorial candidates are the Covenant Party’s Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and Lt. Gov. Eloy S Inos, and the independent tandem of former Sen. Juan T. Guerrero and House Floor Leader Joseph N. Camacho.
