Inos vows to address needs of manamko’

“If (Aging Director Rose) Mondala and (Department of Community and Cultural Affairs) Secretary (Melvin) Faisao are not responding to your needs let us know,” he told congregates who applauded his statement.

Inos led the signing of the Older Americans Month 2011 proclamation.

This year’s theme is “Connecting the Community.”

According to the proclamation, “The older adults in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are the roots from which our community grows, who bestow gifts of wisdom and insight upon younger generations, and strengthen the bonds between neighbors to create a better place to live.”

Inos  led a “moment of silence” in honor of the manamko’ who have passed away.

This year, according to Mondala, four congregates passed away and four others have stopped coming to the center because of serious ailments.

Faisao  thanked the senior citizens for guiding “the young generation who can learn a lot from you.”

The reading of proclamation was led by Christiana Michael for the English version; Rita Reyes, Chamorro; and Meryalen Condrad, Carolinian.

The master and mistress of ceremonies were Teresita R. Sorosa, the Senior Citizens Association Council chairwoman, and Jose M. Torres, her vice chairman.
