Ernesto Casetta, owner and president of the Casetta Casa Vinicola and his companion Maria Carla Martino mingled with the guests at the Hyatt Regency gardens for a sunset cocktail on May 31 before proceeding to the Giovanni’s Restaurant for a four-course family style dinner.
Casetta and Martino arrived on Sunday morning but left on Monday morning.
“The last time I was here in 2008 was only for one day. It’s my second time here, and I like the place,” Casetta told the Variety.
He shared with Variety some highlights and techniques of wine tasting and appreciating.
Guests enjoyed sipping four kinds of Casetta wines for the evening — Gavi di Gavi, a light and fresh wine and Langhe Favorita DOC, both as aperitif and served with appetizers; Barbara d’Alba DOC Barilin, a ruby red wine with violet highlights and served with the main course, and Moscato d’ Asti DOCG, which was served with the desserts.
For the special occasion, Hyatt Regency executive chef Gabriele Colombo created a special menu to compliment the Casetta wines which started with appetizers, salad, and the main entrée which was braised prime beef roulade.
The group moved to the lobby of the Hyatt Regency for dessert and coffee after dinner.
Food & beverage director Ranjeet Rajebhosale said the Hyatt Regency Saipan has been serving Casetta wines on its wine list for more than three years.
The Casetta family has been into winemaking as a tradition which started in 1725.
