CNMI’s government will receive very soon the influential trade group’s recommendations for strengthening 2012-2013 tourist arrivals.
Korean media visit
Saipan played host to five Korean media outlets from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3.
The group included the trade newspapers Global Travel News, Korea Travel News, Korea Travel Times and Travel & Leisure.
Korea’s free tabloid newspaper, AM7, also joined the familiarization trip and covered the Hell of the Marianas race, Tinian and Managaha sites, local dinner shows and hotel briefings.
The Marianas Visitors Authority underwrote the trip as part of its industry outreach program and estimated the potential Korean media coverage at $30,000 and exposure to 450,000 people in the highly important tourism market.
Student outreach
MVA’s Marianas Tourism Education Council began its road show in public elementary schools with a Nov. 15 visit to the Gregorio T. Camacho campus.
MTEC’s objectives are to engage and educate students on the importance of the tourism industry to the islands’ economic prosperity.
Council Chairwoman Vicky Benavente and member Catherine Perry lead the initiative.
