This project is also a joint effort for the two governments’ commitment to the reduction of greenhouse gases.
In a short statement, Japan Ambassador Shoji Sato stated that this project signifies his government’s continued commitment to contribute to the FSM ’s effort for nation building.
FSM Secretary of Foreign Affairs Lorin S. Robert, for his part, said Japan’s assistance will contribute immensely toward this island nation’s commitment to the mitigation of climate change as well as its desire for clean energy.
Witnessing the signing ceremony was FSM Vice President Alik Alik, Pohnpei Gov. John Ehsa, Secretary of Justice Maketo Robert, Secretary of Health and Social Affairs Vita Skilling, acting Secretary of Resource and Development Marion Henry, Assistant Director Suzanne Lowe of the Office of Statistics, Budget and Economic Management, Overseas Development Assistance and Compact Management, second national communication coordinator Joe Kono, staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the staff of the Embassy of Japan.
