Sen. Paul A. Manglona, R-Rota, for his part, thanked them for the flights that went “tremendously well” for the island’s people.
Yoshimori Ochi, KNT senior manager; Tsutomu Ohashi, general manager; Makoto Yoshiro, president; and Toru Takahasho, director, met Manglona and the other Rota lawmakers on Friday.
“We’re glad to meet with the officials of KNT, and thank them for the successful charter flights to Rota,” Manglona said.
KNT arranged 25 charter flights to the island last year and vowed to bring 30more this year.
Manglona said these flights help the CNMI economically.
KNT, he added, expressed willingness to continue providing charter flights, “but of course they need the same support that we gave last year.”
After visiting Rota for the first time last year, some the Japanese tourists came back on their own, he said.
KNT, he added, was happy to see tourists from Japan returning to Rota.
“We also need to support KNT in terms of promotion and marketing funding,” Manglona said.
