JEJU Air on Wednesday informed the Commonwealth Ports Authority that it will provide additional flights from South Korea to Saipan beginning next month.
Jeju Air Board Manager Kim Jae Kap met with CPA Executive Director Leo B. Tudela to reiterate Jeju’s request for an approval of extra flights. Prior to their meeting, Jeju Air sent the CPA executive director a notification and a request for approval “during the summer season and Korean Thanksgiving Day.”
The period of Jeju Air’s extra daily flights will be from July 13 to Sept. 20, 2024.
In an interview on Wednesday, Tudela said Jeju Air’s notification “is good news.”
This is not the first time that Jeju Air is providing additional flights to Saipan.
In June 2023, Jeju Air Chief Executive Officer E-Bae Kim announced in a meeting with Gov. Arnold I. Palacios in Seoul, South Korea that the airline would provide additional direct flights between Busan, South Korea and Saipan during summer.
South Korea is the CNMI’s largest tourism market.
