Joeten-Kiyu executive director John Gonzales said he is now working on the draft of the request for proposals that will be announced within a couple of weeks.
“We are working to finalize everything during our scheduled CNMI Library Council meeting, and our goal is to work with the selected contractor to retrofit our entire roofing and to integrate it with some solar panels to augment our energy conservation measures within the available budget,” Gonzales said.
He said they submitted a proposal for renovation and repair project last year to make the library become energy efficient through the use of solar panel roofing.
The library has over 34,000 registered users and serves the community through different programs including the Children of our Homeland Library, the information technology center, the homework center, the bookmobile services and the Motheread/Fathered program.
