Judge Perry B. Inos credited time already served by Basa since his arrest last April.
Basa pleaded guilty to the charge of assault with a dangerous weapon which is domestic violence, while the other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Assistant Attorney General Peter Prestley prosecuted the case, while Basa was represented by Assistant Public Defender Matthew Meyer.
Upon release from prison, Basa will be placed on three years’ probation.
Basa was ordered by the court to pay a $100 fine, a $100 court assessment fee, and a probation fee to be determined by the Adult Probation Office.
He has to complete 100 hours of community work service.
The court also directed Basa not to have any contact with his victim, except through telephone and only about their minor child.
Inos specifically ordered Basa not to abuse this limited exception.
During his probation period, Basa will not possess or consume alcohol, will attend and complete a parenting class with the Division of Youth Services, attend and complete alcohol and drug assessment counseling, anger management, and any other counseling recommended by the Community Guidance Center.
He will undergo urinalysis for substance abuse during his probation period.
