Judge finds probable cause vs 2 robbery suspects

THE Superior Court yesterday found probable cause to warrant the filing of charges against two men held for separate robbery cases.

During separate preliminary hearings, Associate Judge David Wiseman found probable cause with respect to all charges filed against Ignacio M. Leon Guerrero Jr. and Franco Santa Mina Campita.

Wiseman ordered Guerrero and Campita to answer the charges.

The two defendants, through Chief Public Defender Masood Karimipour, waived reading of the information and advisement of their constitutional rights.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Wiseman set a bail modification hearing in the two cases for Friday.

The Attorney General’s Office charged the 20-year-old Leon Guerrero for robbing Winchells Doughnuts in Susupe last June 9.

Leon Guerrero was charged with robbery, theft for unlawful taking receiving stolen property, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, false arrest, manufacture, sale or possession of firearm, failure to possess an identification card, use of firearm in commission of offense, failure to register firearm, and disturbing the peace.

Leon Guerrero was allegedly armed with a handgun when he robbed Winchells. He reportedly ran away with an estimated $180 from the cash register.

Campita was held in connection with the robbery at MGM-I Poker in Dandan last June 18.

A police officer testified yesterday that the mastermind was Edil V. Angcoy, a cashier of the poker arcade.

Angcoy reportedly fled to the Philippines last week.

The 34-year-old Campita allegedly confessed that Angcoy gave him $1,500. Campita pulled the shirt of Angcoy “to appear that there was a struggle with the robbers.”

Investigators learned that Angcoy ran away with $2,130 cash.

Angcoy earlier reported that three men robbed the poker arcade of $4,000 cash.
