Richard Christopher Sablan Duenas, who appeared for a change of plea hearing on Jan. 28 with his court-appointed counsel Viola Alepuyo, was also placed on probation for one year.
Chief Prosecutor Kevin A. Lynch represented the commonwealth during the plea negotiation.
The defendant waived his rights and pleaded guilty to assault and battery. The court accepted the defendant’s voluntary guilty plea after establishing a factual basis.
Manglona ordered him to pay a fine of $200, court assessment fee of $25 and an annual probation free of $100. S
She said the probation fee may increase on a proportionate basis if the defendant will not complete the requirements of his probation in a timely manner.
Duenas must stay away from the victim, Domingo Tambiac, and perform 50 hours of community work service.
He will be referred to the Community Guidance Center and complete any recommended course of treatment, including anger management.
Manglona ordered the defendant to report to the Department of Corrections at 8 a.m. on Jan. 30.
He was ordered to be released at 8 a.m. yesterday, and the court set the review hearing for April 29, 2009.
The Attorney General’s Office said Duenas and his co-defendant Vicente Q. Sablan assaulted Domingo Tambiac on Sept. 4, 2008.
