The island’s three car dealers sold only 23 brand new vehicles last month. They sold 48 in the same month last year.
July’s brand new vehicles sold includes 5 sedans, 5 trucks, 5 vans and 8 sport utility vehicles.
Of the 23 brand new units sold last month, Joeten Motors sold14 which represented 60.87 percent of the market share. Microl Corporation sold 6,claiming 26.09 percent of the market share while Triple “J” Motors sold 3, or 13.04 percent of the market share.
Ford was the leading brand last month with 7 brand new units sold, surpassing Toyota which sold 6. Nissan sold 5, while Kia and Hyundai sold 2 each. One Mazda unit was sold last month.
From January to July, the three car dealers sold a total of 256 brand new cars, a 28.49 percent decrease compared to last year’s sales of 358 brand new cars during the same seven-month period.
This year’s brand new vehicles sold consisted of 96 sedans, 61 trucks, 20 vans, 74 sport utility vehicles and 5 others.
Microl Corp. led the sales from January to July with 96 brand new vehicles sold, followed by Joeten Motors with 94, and Triple “J” Motors with 66.
Last month, the three car dealers sold 15 used cars, bringing to 153 units the total number of used cars they sold from January to July.
Triple “J” Motors sold 8, Microl Corp. 4 and Joeten Motors 3.
Microl Corp. distributes Toyota and Chevrolet brands. Joeten Motors sells Nissan, Ford, Honda, Kia and other car brands while Triple “J” is the local dealer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki, Mazda and others.
