CADA president and general manager of Joeten Motors Matthew Deets said the three auto dealers on island sold 52 brand new cars compared to 34 during the same month last year.
“We are happy to see that June’s sales numbers are up and our hope is that this trend will continue,” Deets said. He added that this year’s sales numbers are slightly better than last year.
“This is somewhat positive considering the current economic climate. This kind of news helps build consumer confidence,” Deets added.
Deets said for June, Microl saw the biggest improvement in sales with 34 new car sales which represents a 126 percent increase.
Joeten Motors sale were static for the month with 10 new units while Triple J Motors saw a minor decrease in sales to eight units, representing an 11 percent decline compared to last year.
Deets added that more than half of Toyota sales were Corollas — 19 units.
There were 34 sedans, 5 trucks, 2 vans and 11 SUV’s sold last month.
“As expected, the trend toward more fuel efficient cars and sports utility vehicles continues to drive sales for those units,” Deets said.
Joeten Motors is the distributor for Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia. Microl Toyota is the dealer of Toyota and Chevrolet while Triple J sells Mazda, Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Suzuki vehicles.
