Kaipat gets 3 days for disturbing the peace of partner

Presiding Judge Robert Naraja sentenced Kaipat to one year imprisonment, but all suspended, and credited three days the defendant served at the Department of Corrections facility.

The other charge of assault and battery was dismissed with prejudice as part of the plea agreement.

Kaipat was ordered to pay a $250 fine, a $25 court assessment fee, and a $100 probation fee. He has to complete 100 hours of community work service.

He will report to the Community Guidance Center for anger management and  attend any recommended counseling.

Kaipat is prohibited to consume any alcohol during the probationary period.

On Dec. 31, police said Kaipat and his victim were about to leave the Minachom Atdao Susupe beach park when the victim’s ex-boyfriend stopped by and said hello to her.

When they left the park, Kaipat started an argument about the victim’s former boyfriend, and cussed the victim when they arrived home.

Police said Kaipat punched his victim in her face and tried to choke her but she was able to push the defendant away.

The victim ran to her sister’s house next door where she called for police assistance.

Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Petersburg prosecuted the case while Kaipat was represented by Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig.
