Karidat executive director Angie Deleon Guerrero said she was so happy with the response and the generous spirit of the people.
“It just goes to show that when people have the desire to give, they will do so no matter how hard the times are, and no matter how limited the time is,” Deleon Guerrero said.
She said the 71 children on got their toys in time for Christmas.
“We would like to thank the many volunteers who helped us in matching the toys with the kids on our list, and for calling the parents to pick up the toys in time for Christmas,” Deleon Guerrero said.
People were still donating toys late on Christmas eve so they had to wait until after Christmas to distribute the toys.
“We got excess toys from the community so that we were able to send a box full of toys to Tinian,” Deleon Guerrero said.
“We are happy we have so many people and companies who called to donate toys. Some of them don’t even want to be identified but they just want to share,” she added.
Karidat, a church-based, non-profit organization on Saipan, spearheads the Tots for Toys campaign each year. This year, the Society of Human Resource Management CNMI chapter led the toy drive campaign.
“It was another successful campaign and we made many kids and families very happy, thanks to the community,” Deleon Guerrero said.
