Sablan said he had to remind Duncan of his promise to Education Commissioner Rita A. Sablan, that he will visit CNMI.
“I told him, ‘Secretary you made a promise to our commissioner that you are going to visit us,’ ” Congressman Sablan said.
He brought this up when Duncan mentioned that he planned to travel to Australia soon, “and I said, we’re just right there, you can come straight to us,” the lawmaker recalled.
He told the education commissioner yesterday, “I did bring it up because he made that promise to you.”
Congressman Sablan said he had to bring up issues very important to the CNMI education system, and “that is the reason why I did not come to Guam to ride with the president on Air Force One even though I also had that invitation.”
“My priority was the meeting with Duncan,” he added.
