Former Rep. Maria T. Peter has been the acting chair after the term of Charles V. Cepeda ended on Nov. 14.
Cepeda was reappointed by Gov. Benigno R. Fitial on Dec. 3, but the appointment is still subject to Senate confirmation.
During the meeting, honorary regent Larry Lee, the NMC Faculty Senate President, is expected to submit the result of the vote taken by faculty members on NMC President Carmen Fernandez’s leadership.
Twenty-four of 30 faculty members expressed “no confidence” in her presidency.
NMC faculty members, students and residents have been increasingly critical of Fernandez following her decision to terminate the contract of one of the college’s most well-known and longest-serving instructors, Samuel McPhetres.
Faculty members, in particular, were worried about their lack of job security.
