Korean entertainers, musicians to visit Saipan

“This will help boost the tourism industry on Saipan and further strengthen the development of culture,” said Jun Ho Park, P’Art Music Academy president and organizer of the event.

Last year, top Korean choreographers and  a traditional dance group visited Saipan to perform during the Korean Independence Day and the inauguration of the Korean Center on Saipan.

This year, Park said they will have two performers.

He said the Yehwa Dance Company led by You Kyung Sook will perform at the multi-purpose center on Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.

The group is comprised of 50 students, he added.

Their visit will foster more culture exchange activities between Saipan and Korea and will help portray the island as a beautiful, multi-cultural place.

One of the Korea’s top bands, the Dangjin Middle School Brass Band, will perform at the Saipan Presbyterian Church.

The band will be conducted by Yang Seung Goon.

You hee Kwon is the principal of Dangjin Middle School.

The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 and admission is free.

The two separate events are open to the public.

“I am inviting the community to attend the concerts of these top performers from Korea,” Park said.

The events are organized by the Korean Association of Saipan, in collaboration with Saipan Mayor Donald G. Flores and the Marianas Visitors Authority.

Park said the visit of the 83 students from Dangjin Middle School is also part of the school’s “sister” relationship with Saipan Community School and Saipan Southern High School.
