According to Aldan, Covenant-Tinian, there is no power service for the barracks of construction workers of Bridge Investment due to CUC’s debt to Telesource.
The barracks have been built two months ago and are waiting to be hooked up to the electric grid of CUC.
The construction of the main casino establishment has not started.
CUC still owes Telesource $800,000.
Telesource has said that its power service on Tinian will be affected by CUC’s non-payment of its obligations to the company.
Aldan said CUC already secured the money to pay Telesource and Aggreko International Projects Ltd. as provided by Public Law 16-7, but he wonders why the power situation at the project site is not yet addressed.
He said CUC Executive Director Antonio S. Muna has met with representatives of Telesource the other day to discuss the agency’s outstanding balance.
There are two barracks unit that have been constructed to accommodate the Bridge Investment workers at the project site but they do not have the power supply that will allow them to perform their tasks, Aldan said.
One barracks unit can accommodate about 36 persons, but a larger unit can house 200 people, he added.
“We’re wondering why when investors come in to the CNMI, [the government] gives them the red tape, not the red carpet,” Aldan said.
The Tinian legislative delegation, he added, will meet with Muna if the power situation at the project site is not resolved soon.
