Laundromat coin machine theft captured on CCTV

THE Department of Public Safety is seeking the community’s help in identifying a man who stole a coin machine at Fresh Laundry in San Vicente early Wednesday morning.

The incident was captured by the Laundromat’s surveillance camera.

According to DPS, the theft incident was reported to the police on Aug. 28 at 8:21 a.m.

“Staff who had reported to work noticed that the coin machine…inside the laundry was missing. Upon reviewing their surveillance system, it was discovered that at about 3:18 a.m. this (Wednesday) morning, a red sedan described as a Kia model, with CNMI license plate number ‘ACE-666’ drove into the parking lot and [a man] appeared to have observed the area and then departed,” Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said.

“At about 3:25 a.m., the same vehicle parked by the laundry entrance. An individual was observed getting down from the vehicle and walking inside the laundry toward the back where the coin machine was located. The person then dragged the coin machine from inside the laundromat and into the car before fleeing. The laundry staff indicated that the machine alone cost $1,000 and contained about $2,000 in coins and bills,” Manacop added.

The case remains under investigation, he said.
