Acting Gov. Diego T. Benavente says the administration will ensure that the law against illegal poker gaming machines will be enforced.
“At this point, (however), there are only allegations regarding these illegal machines,” he told Variety yesterday when asked to comment about the $2.1 million lawsuit filed against the government over illegal poker machine operations.
In a separate interview, Attorney General Robert T. Torres said the Division of Revenue and Taxation is encountering “some limitations” in its effort against illegal poker machines.
Rev and Taxation has only one investigator, he said.
Benavente said that as early as January this year, the Department of Finance had been instructed to ensure that all gaming machines were licensed.
