His father, former Sen. Herman R. Deleon Guerrero, said his son is now resting and recuperating and is expected to return to Saipan soon.
Rep. Deleon Guerrero was admitted to the Asian Hospital and Medical Center on Feb. 22. A series of medical examinations were performed on him before he underwent surgery at the base of his skull to correct his trigeminal nerve disorder which is characterized by severe facial pain.
Five days ago, he underwent another surgical procedure.
In a statement from his office, Rep. Deleon Guerrero solicited his constituents’ understanding.
He has delegated the operations of his office to his father regarding legislative matters.
“Former Sen. Herman R. Deleon Guerrero has many years of legislative experience and knowledge in governmental affairs. You may call Rep. Fredrick Deleon Guerrero’s Office to speak with the staff, or former Sen. Herman R. Deleon Guerrero who would be happy to assist you,” a statement from the lawmaker’s office reads.
“The office staff extends their sincere appreciation for your understanding, thoughts and prayers for the representative’s speedy recovery,” it added.
A former teacher, Rep. Deleon Guerrero has a degree in American studies from the University of New England in Maine.
He and his wife, Maecy, have three children and a grandchild.
He currently chairs the House Committee on Federal and Foreign Relations.
