Lawmakers to recognize former lt. governor

Rep. Teresita A. Santos said the presentation will be held in the House chamber at 10 a.m.

Last week, during its session, the House of Representatives adopted H.R. 17-45 lauding Manglona for his “distinguished career in public office and to congratulate and commend his countless exemplary accomplishments and contributions to the people of the Northern Mariana Islands.”

Santos said Manglona’s “esteemed public service has benefitted the entire commonwealth and serves as an example of excellence.”

In her resolution, Santos said Manglona “believed in maximizing public participation in the formulation of government policies, restoration of public confidence in government, enforcing the proper allocation of the island’s intellectual resources, ensuring quality in public services, and establishing the necessary apparatus geared to stimulating the local economy.”

According to the resolution, “It would be extremely difficult to find a person with similar compassion and devotion to public service, that has been internationally recognized for his exceptional accomplishments like that of the Honorable Benjamin Taisacan Manglona, a man who dedicated his life to family and to the residents of this great commonwealth, contributing with all generosity and unselfish dedication of his precious time.”

Aside from being a devoted public servant, Manglona held numerous positions in associations, organizations and planning committees while serving his constituents, the resolution added.

Manglona was also involved in numerous business and professional positions in CNMI.

Santos said Manglona is “a man with great work ethics who learned that in order to make a living, one must be dedicated and determined even at an early age.”
