Palacios-Reyes said submitting their leave after it has been done or at the very end of their pay period is not a good employment practice.
“This practice not only defeats the purpose of the bureau’s established policies and employment contract conditions but it also hinders efficient and effective timekeeping procedures,” she said.
She told the LB staffers that they must submit an application for leave to their immediate supervisor subject to her approval before taking the day-off or their absence will be considered “absent without leave.”
“Noncompliance with this requirement, except in bona fide emergencies, will result in disapproval of leave request and ‘absent without leave’ will be charged and subject to loss of pay,” she said.
Palacios-Reyes will remain the acting LB director until such time that the House and the Senate leaderships have named a permanent director.
