THE Lions Clubs International’s Region 2, District 204 inducted new members and installed new officers of six clubs at the Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Hall on Saturday, Aug. 17.
Lions Club International District Governor Lion Roy Adonay led the induction of new members and installation of the new presidents of the Saipan Legends Lions Club, the Saipan Beacon Lions Club, the Saipan Infinity Lions Club, the Saipan Centennial Lions Club, the Saipan Marianas Lions Club and the Saipan Fil-American Lions Club.
The membership of District 204, Adonay said, has reached 1,166 and 34 different clubs.
The new club presidents inducted on Saturday were Saipan Legends Lions Club’s Alfredo Cabael, Saipan Beacon Lions Club’s Raquel Floyd, Saipan Infinity Lions Club’s Michael Guirey, Saipan Centennial Lions Club’s Alexander Escobar, Saipan Marianas Lions Club’s Martha Badelles and Saipan Fil-American Lions Club’s Vicente Obana.
The Lions also installed new members of each club’s board of directors and district officers. Global Membership Team Coordinator Loisa Cabuhat led the installation rites.
In his inspirational speech, First Vice District Governor Ronaldo Hidalgo said they held the gathering to “celebrate leadership and service and commitment to our community.” In inducting the new members of the six clubs, he said, they celebrated not only the growth of their organization but “the promise of a brighter future for those we serve.”
“In the heart of every Lion beats the spirit of service, the commitment to make a difference and the unwavering belief in the power of collective action. Today, we expand our Lions family. We reaffirm our dedication to fostering positive change in our communities,” Hidalgo said.
He said the District 204 Lions Clubs “represent a beacon of hope, a promise to uphold the values that define us — integrity, compassion and determination.” The six clubs joining their ranks, he added, “will amplify our impact, extend our reach and enrich our collective efforts to serve humanity.”
In his congratulatory address, Adonay said he was “awed” by what the clubs have accomplished and delivered.
“In a matter of days, Region 2 delivered everything that was promised, and our district is finally going to be a full-fledged district. That deserves a round of applause,” Adonay said, adding, “we, as district leaders, are here to support you.”
