Liquor servers will be required to undergo training

Without the certification, Alcohol Beverages Tobacco Control Division Director David Maratita said these workers — waiters, waitresses and bartenders — will not be allowed to serve liquor.

Cashiers of retailers will also be required to pass the training so they can sell tobacco to customers, Maratita added.

The training is not an additional burden on the business community, he said.

Business employees who completed the training will be issued an ID that they must wear while on duty.

The training, Maratita said, is part of the Enforcement Underage Drinking Program.

“With this training, we anticipate the compliance rate to increase in the campaign against selling of alcohol to minors,” he added.

They  intend to implement the program within this year after soliciting comments from the community.
