In his speech, Lizama said his long years of experience as a judge and lawyer will be valuable assets if he becomes the CNMI’s first delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives.
“I am humbly asking for your support because CNMI needs a strong voice to the U.S. Congress for the health and survival of the islands,” he said.
Lizama retired as a judge on May 21, 2008 to run for office.
He brings with him 27 years of experience in the judiciary — 10 years as a judge and 17 years as a lawyer.
In an earlier interview, Lizama said he can serve the community better by representing the islands in the U.S. Congress.
He said he felt that the time is “ripe” for him to run for Congress.
His campaign slogan is “Lizama for All.”
The other individuals who have announced their candidacies are Washington Rep. Pete A. Tenorio, Sen. Luis P. Crisostimo, outgoing Election Commission Executive Director Gregorio C. Sablan and Department of Public Lands official John DLR. Gonzales.
The election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
