A CHALAN Piao resident is calling on public and elected officials to repair the roads leading to their homes.

Vince Cabrera told Variety on Sunday that Iriko Drive and Agua Lane are in urgent need of repairs. “Residents of Chalan Piao have been ignored since submitting applications. There was an assessment weeks ago, but nothing happened after. I fear it may only be fixed near election time,” Cabrera said.

“Our leaders have a paved driveway or street. We don’t,” he added.

Cabrera said he reached out to the Saipan Mayor’s Office and Precinct 1 representatives. “We applied for road repair last year with the Saipan Mayor’s Office. I called my congressman, but they couldn’t help either,” he said.

Asked for an update on the Chalan Piao road repair request, Carlos Camacho of the Saipan Mayor’s Office said work is scheduled to begin sometime next week.

“We ask for the residents’ patience, as they are not the only ones who have requested road repair,” he said, adding that scheduled projects also include Fina Sisu, As Lito, and Kannat Tabla.
