THE NMI Republican Party on Wednesday announced it is extending the deadline for the submission of letters of intent to run for the House of Representatives in the November general elections.
In his announcement, party president Patrick M. Cepeda said the party wants to provide more opportunities for qualified individuals to step forward and serve their communities. He emphasized that the NMI Republican Party “remains committed to building a strong and competitive slate of candidates for the upcoming election cycle.”
The party had previously set March 12, 2026, as the deadline to submit LOIs. Cepeda said the party’s board of directors approved the proposal to extend the deadline, giving interested individuals more time to consider public service and submit their intent to run under the local GOP banner.
The new deadline will be announced by the GOP board at a later date, Cepeda said. He encouraged individuals committed to advancing responsible governance, strengthening communities, and upholding the party’s principles to submit their LOIs.
Candidates should submit their LOIs to the NMI Republican Party. Additional information about the candidate process, including primary procedures and next steps, will be provided to all applicants after their LOIs are received. Cepeda also urged community leaders, professionals, and individuals dedicated to public service to consider joining the Republican Party’s effort to provide strong representation for the people of the Commonwealth.
Variety was told that, aside from Precinct 1 Rep. Roy Ada, there are only a few new candidates planning to run on the Republican ticket.
