GOVERNOR David M. Apatang last week nominated Vicente N. Camacho Jr. and Juan Salas to the Commonwealth Ports Authority board of directors.

If confirmed by the Senate, Camacho, who currently serves as program manager at Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., will represent the Carolinian community, while Salas, a retired police major at the Department of Public Safety, will represent Saipan on the CPA board.

In separate appointment letters to Camacho and Salas, the governor said he and Lt. Gov. Dennis James Mendiola appreciate their willingness to serve the CNMI people as CPA board members. He added that they are confident Camacho and Salas are qualified and will be assets to the important board.

In his letter to Senate President Karl King-Nabors, the governor said he and the lieutenant governor are confident in Camacho and Salas’ ability to carry out the functions and mandates of the CPA board.

Camacho and Salas will fill the seats of former CPA board chair Ramon A. Tebuteb and former board member Joseph M. Diaz, whose terms expired on Oct. 7, 2025.

Last month, the governor nominated Office of the Governor Program Manager Eusebio M. Manglona to fill the seat vacated by CPA board vice chair Steve Mesngon, who resigned in August.

The governor has also renominated board member Thomas “Kiyu” Villagomez.

Currently, the CPA board is composed of Chairman Antonio B. Cabrera and board members Bart Jackson of Saipan and Dolores Kiyoshi of Tinian.
