Governor OKs Saipan spending measures

BEFORE leaving for Washington, D.C. for official meetings last week, Gov. David M. Apatang signed into law four spending measures for Saipan.

H.L.B. 24-45, authored by Rep. Ralph N. Yumul, is now Saipan Local Law 24-22. It appropriates $256,235 in earned bond interest as follows:

• $15,000 for Carolinian Village playground.

• $38,000 for the construction of an emergency speed table on Middle Road in Garapan.

• $50,000 for a judgment against the Department of Public Works.

• $88,000 for the purchase of base course material for road repairs on Saipan.

• $64,600 for the Garapan Fishing Base revetment project.

H.L.B. 24-41 is now S.L.L. 24-21. It provides $80,000 from leftover exclusive casino license fees paid by Imperial Pacific International in 2020 for maintenance, repairs, and improvements of parks and other recreational facilities in Precinct 2.

The bill’s co-authors are Reps. Danny Aquino, Vincent Aldan, Blas Jonathan Attao, Joel Camacho, Joseph Flores, Malcolm Omar, John Paul Sablan, Ralph N. Yumul, House Floor Leader Marissa Flores and Vice Speaker Diego Vincent Camacho.

H.L.B. 24-38, authored by Reps. Joel Camacho and Malcolm Omar, is now S.L.L. 24-20. It appropriates $48,450 from leftover exclusive casino license fees for maintenance, repairs, and improvements of parks and other recreational facilities in Precinct 4.

H.L.B. 24-36, authored by House Floor Leader Marissa Flores, is now S.L.L. 24-19. It appropriates $89,217 in unobligated casino license fees for the maintenance and improvements of parks and other recreational facilities in Precinct 3, as well as improvements to the Gov. Froilan C. Tenorio Beach Road Pathway and the Garapan Core area.
