GOVERNOR David M. Apatang last week renominated Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission Chairman James Sirok and Commissioner Oscar Patrick Quitugua.
In separate appointment letters to Sirok and Quitugua, the governor said he and Lt. Gov. Dennis James Mendiola have full confidence in their unwavering commitment to represent the interests of the Commonwealth.
“Their selfless dedication to serving the CNMI people is truly commendable and greatly appreciated,” the governor said.
In his letters to Senate President Karl King-Nabors and Speaker Edmund S. Villagomez, the governor said he and the lieutenant governor are confident Sirok and Quitugua possess the necessary qualifications and will continue to dedicate their time and efforts to the CPUC.
A former legal counsel of the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation, Sirok has been a CPUC member for three years. He was appointed by the late Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and confirmed by both the House and Senate in June 2023.
The other CPUC members are retired educator Dr. John “Jack” A. Angello and Office of Grants Management-State Clearinghouse grants specialist Bruce Camacho.
CPUC is the regulatory agency of CUC.
