Governor welcomes Philippine Airlines as direct Manila flights resume in NMI

(Office of the CNMI Governor) — Gov. David M. Apatang welcomed representatives from Philippine Airlines, Bryan Sansolis, regional head of Japan, Korea, and Oceania, and Rizlyn Blaine Roxas, PAL marketing officer, during a press conference held to announce the return of PAL to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands with the launch of a direct flight to Manila beginning March 29, 2026.

The press conference was conducted in partnership with the Commonwealth Ports Authority, Century Travel, the Marianas Visitors Authority, and Tan Holdings/Northern Marianas Sports Association, marking a significant milestone in strengthening regional connectivity, tourism, and economic development for the CNMI.

Governor Apatang expressed appreciation to Philippine Airlines and its partners for their collaboration and commitment to restoring a critical air route that reconnects the CNMI to the Philippines. The reinstatement of direct service to Manila is expected to enhance travel accessibility, support the tourism industry, and deepen cultural and economic ties between the two regions.

“This direct connection to Manila represents more than just a flight — it is a bridge for families, businesses, and visitors, and a step forward in revitalizing our tourism market and regional partnerships,” Governor Apatang said.

The inaugural flight, scheduled for March 29, 2026, will provide residents, visitors, and businesses with direct access to one of Asia’s major international hubs, expanding opportunities for travel, trade, and investment. The Office of the Governor remains committed to supporting partnerships that advance economic growth, tourism recovery, and increased connectivity for the people of the Commonwealth.
