Lisa Phair is first judiciary pre-law alumna to complete hybrid-online juris doctor program

(CNMI Judiciary) —  Lisa Phair graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in August 2025 with a Juris Doctor through its ABA-approved JDinteractive program, which combines real-time, live online class sessions with self-paced instruction, short on-campus courses, and experiential learning opportunities.  During her time in the program, she participated in global learning opportunities in Washington, D.C., Rome, London, and Poland.

Phair graduated in August 2025.

Her legal studies focused on national security law, immigration, and international legal systems. She served as a Form & Accuracy Editor for the Journal of International Law and Commerce and was awarded the L. Frederick E. Goldie Award in 2024 and 2025 for her legal writing and contributions.

A long-time resident of Saipan, Phair has been actively engaged in community service for over a decade. From 2019 to 2023, she served as an adjunct professor at Northern Marianas College, where she developed and taught upper-level business courses. Most recently, she co-founded the TasiSat Club, a Cube Satellite STEM initiative at Marianas High School, mentoring students in aerospace research and technology.

Phair is a graduate of the 2022 Summer Pre-Law Program. Five other participants from the 2022 cohort are current law school students, all graduating within the next two years. Her achievement marks a historic first for the Northern Mariana Islands, inspiring underserved communities by demonstrating that a legal education is possible close to home.
