THE Department of Public Safety is investigating the death of a 23-year-old man who was found with a gunshot wound Tuesday morning at Ocean Ridge Homes in the Beach Road area of Iliyang.
According to a DPS statement, at approximately 6:40 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2025, 911 dispatch received a report of an injured person at the residential complex.
Responding officers found an unresponsive male lying face up with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately secured the area as medics from the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived.
The victim was transported to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation’s Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m. by an attending physician.
“The cause of death was determined to be cardiac arrest resulting from severe blood loss,” DPS stated.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau and crime scene technicians were called to the scene to conduct a full investigation. DPS said the case remains active and ongoing.
